What are Featured Snippets?
08 December 2017A featured snippet is a special block at the top of Google search results that directly provides the answer to your question.
So if you ask Google a question (how? or what?), you get the most relevant answer in a short preview with a link to the original source website, sometimes with an image (featured snippets are also called answer boxes)
Why are there Featured Snippets?
With this, Google makes it even easier and faster to find the answer to your search query.
How do I create Featured Snippets?
It is important that the question is actually included in the page as a header and/or as a title (meta title), and the question must also appear literally in the text itself. It is important that the answer to the question is also described as clearly and in as much detail as possible on your web page. The better the answer, the more likely you are to be listed as a featured snippet.
The technology behind the website must be good so that Google can read the website easily and quickly. It is best if you have a place on the website where knowledge is shared, where multiple relevant questions and answers are categorized (for example, a knowledge database or FAQ page).
Are Featured Snippets paid advertisements?
No, they are organic search results, so not paid advertisements. You don't necessarily have to rank high in Google to be shown as a Featured Snippet. So if your website doesn't have a very good position in Google, you can still come out on top with your question and answer.
Will Featured Snippets increase in 2018?
Yes, these will increase; featured snippets can be used for voice-activated search queries (mobile first). That is why it is important that the answers to the questions are short and relevant.
