Internet via ADSL or VDSL

The copper network is widely used for internet connections. All ADSL and VDSL connections utilize the copper infrastructure.

Almost every address in the Netherlands is connected to this network, and thanks to continually advancing technology, increasingly faster connections over copper are possible. With VDSL, download speeds of up to 400 Mbps can be achieved! Additionally, internet via the copper network has proven to be very reliable over the past few years.

ADSL

ADSL is the most well-known type of internet connection using the copper network. Its main advantage is that it is available almost everywhere at a low cost. ADSL can achieve download speeds of around 20 Mbps, though the actual speed depends on your distance from the local exchange. ADSL connections are best used as dedicated lines for specific services. Due to the low cost, it is financially attractive to run multiple ADSL connections in parallel for different services. Internet, email, telephony, payment terminals, and alarms can all run over ADSL connections, either separately or combined depending on your required capacity.

VDSL

VDSL is the improved but less well-known successor to ADSL. While ADSL achieves download speeds of up to 20 Mbps, the latest VDSL technology can reach download speeds of up to 200 Mbps! By bonding multiple wire pairs, we can even achieve up to 400 Mbps download speed, all over the familiar and existing copper network. The maximum speed achievable at your address depends heavily on the distance to your local exchange.

VDSL is therefore a good alternative for businesses where fiber is not yet available, or where demand for capacity does not justify fiber. Low initial and monthly costs compared to fiber, plus a powerful and reliable network, allow you to run multiple services such as internet, telephony, backup, payment terminals, and alarms. Additionally, VDSL is ideal as a backup connection alongside a fiber line when a high-capacity connection is needed. The fiber and copper networks are sufficiently separate that networks from the same provider can even serve as backup for each other!

Good Hardware

If new hardware is required to activate your connection, we provide it fully configured. Naturally, we only offer high-quality hardware from reputable brands that we have extensive experience with. One of our preferred brands is Draytek, known for producing high-quality routers for DSL connections.

We are an official Draytek dealer and, thanks to our years of experience with this equipment, we can always provide you with the right Draytek solution!

Viprinet

For many addresses in the Netherlands, ADSL is still the only (reliable) way to establish an internet connection, which limits maximum speeds. However, we can help you with Viprinet hardware to combine multiple connections (including different types such as ADSL, VDSL, and 4G) into a single aggregated connection.

Always Fast Internet!

All our internet connections can be provided as uncontended connections. Nearly all internet providers in the Netherlands offer so-called ‘contended’ connections.

The speed you achieve largely depends on the provider’s capacity to handle traffic on their end. For example, if a provider has 200 customers each using a 10 Mbps connection, the theoretical maximum load is 2,000 Mbps. If the provider’s total capacity is less than this, customers may not reach the promised speed during peak hours (typically during the workday).

Infracom ensures there is always sufficient bandwidth from our internet hub in our data center, so this will never be a bottleneck for achieving your maximum internet speed.
