Phone hacked?

06 June 2023

Are you aware that your data can be hacked and sensitive company data can end up on the streets?

When I say that certain apps on your phone are not safe, are you also someone who says: “Everyone can know everything, I have no secrets"?

Phone hacked?

Often you are the one who makes it easy for the hacker

How can a phone be hacked?

  • By downloading untrusted apps
  • Via a fake Wi-Fi network, often free Wi-Fi, where the hacker can watch along
  • Via a phishing email, by clicking on a link in the email that installs malware
  • Via a public charging station, there may be a computer behind it that installs malware
  • Through SIM swapping; someone retrieves your details from your telecom provider and puts your number on his SIM card, then he takes over your digital life!

How can you see if your phone has been hacked?

  • Your data usage per month is suddenly much higher than normal
  • Your screen lights up while your phone is in standby mode
  • You hear sound while your phone is in standby mode
  • You hear sounds during a phone call (clicking sounds or voices in the background)
  • Your phone restarts for no reason
  • You receive SMS messages with strange characters
  • Your phone battery drains quickly
  • It takes longer for your phone to switch off

Ensure that company data does not end up on the streets!

What can you do to prevent business mobile phones from being hacked?

  • Store data encrypted (if your phone is stolen, the data cannot be read immediately)
  • Good password policy
  • Use antivirus and anti-spam software
  • Ensure a good update policy
