Why is User Experience (UX) important?
09 June 2020As soon as you visit a website or use an application, you deal with User Experience (UX). You "experience" the use and prefer to reach your goal as quickly and easily as possible.
Whether it is searching for an answer, filling out a form or using a calculation tool or App, everything you do you often want to do simply and efficiently. When something is not clear, you have to search or wait, the experience is: annoying or frustrating, you get irritated. That is why User Experience is so important, you want visitors/customers/employees to feel pleasant.
What you need to know about UX
UX is an abbreviation for User Experience. UX design is the process for improving this user experience.
UX research: get to know your target audience
Before you have something developed, you will have to thoroughly investigate what your target audience wants. Have you investigated the motivation of your target audience? Are they familiar with using the product? What is the motivation to use the product? What do they value highly? To be able to create a good user experience, it is important to get to know and understand the target audience.
UI (User Interface) versus UX (User Experience)
UI is what you actually see. You see it in the foreground, the visible part of the website or application, the shape of a button, the size of the text, the design in your corporate identity. That which leaves the first impression, the "bells and whistles". It is what you do as a user.
UX is about what you experience as a user when you use the application. The experience you get after going through all the steps. What you think of it when you have filled everything in and click send. You experience, for example, a logical flow and find it pleasant to fill in.
UX copy
UX is nothing without good UX copy. UX copy is text that helps to use the digital product. Text that helps you solve problems. UX copy includes, for example, validation texts and error texts, but also texts on links and buttons. Help texts in information texts also often contribute to a positive user experience.
2 trends of 2020
UX : less is more
When you start with a website or an app (application), you often start small. After that, more and more is added and built upon. More content and more features. You want to show more and offer more, but with that the website (or application) becomes increasingly complex, while the UX gets worse. So stop adding new functionalities all the time and ensure that existing functions are optimized. Ensure simplicity and accessibility.
UX : use micro animations
Micro animations are small animations, not for decoration, but functional. They help users to better understand the product. By applying visible but unobtrusive small movements, it is clearer that something is happening or that you can do something there; because something moves, it gets the attention, the focus.
