Meet Kevin Bennink

Why and when did you join Infracom ICT?

'In 2017, I was looking for an internship and a teacher recommended Infracom (then still Multimove). I had an interview with Mark, Erik, and Sander, who are now my colleagues. Shortly after the interview, I got a call that a spot was available, and I've basically never left.'

How long have you worked at Infracom?

'After my regular internship (February 2017 – June 2017), I worked for a while as Junior Web Developer, then started my graduation internship in September 2018. After graduating, I joined full-time in March 2019.'

'If you count the internship period, I've been here since February 2017, but officially employed since March 2019.'

What did you study?

'That's a fun story because both the name of the program and the school changed while I was studying. I started the IT program 'Multimedia Design & Development' at Stenden University. Along the way, Stenden merged with NHL University, becoming NHL Stenden University. The program was renamed to 'Front-end Developer', but my diploma says 'Bachelor of Science'. So call it what you will!'

What is your role?

'As Lead Developer, I'm responsible for guiding the development team. Together with my colleagues, we manage and further develop the technology. This keeps us modern on a technical level.'

'I also code daily with great pleasure, working on complex custom systems and integrations. I enjoy coming up with technical solutions for clients and turning them into working systems.'

Which office do you work at?

'I usually work in Emmen, but since COVID I also work from home (like most people at Infracom). Occasionally I'm at the Zwolle office for meetings or just to catch up with colleagues!'

What's fun about working at Infracom ICT?

'One of the best things is the close-knit atmosphere. Everyone knows each other and uses first names. People are always up for a chat and we never run out of things to talk about. It's cozy and informal, which makes for a pleasant work environment.'

What's the best part of your job?

'Definitely the fact that you're never done learning. There's always something new to discover or learn in tech, and every challenge is a new one. It keeps things varied and keeps you sharp!'

How do you stay up to date in your field?

'Mostly by talking and brainstorming with others. Sometimes at the coffee machine, sometimes at the desk. If something new comes up, we'll say things like 'Have you seen this?' or 'I tried this recently and it works great, take a look!'

'You could say we keep each other sharp and constantly inspired to stay engaged.'
