A strategic relocation

Our recent data center relocation, at the beginning of 2025, was a drastic but necessary step. We ensured that all our servers, containing customer data, files, websites and programs, were safely transferred from Amsterdam to the location in Meppel.
 

The network: continuity guaranteed

An important aspect of the relocation was maintaining a stable connection for our customers. Thanks to the extensive redundancy in our network, we were able to make the transition smoothly without noticeable interruptions.
 

Why a redundant environment?

Redundancy refers to the use of multiple systems or components that perform the same function, so that if one system fails, the other systems can continue to operate without interruption.

The chance of complete failure is greater in a non-redundant ICT environment than in a redundant ICT environment. When an environment partially or completely fails, you as a company have a problem. Employees can no longer work, customers can no longer be served and services are temporarily interrupted. In addition, financial damage and reputational damage can also occur, especially if the outage lasts too long.
 

We provide extra backup

In the case of our data center, redundancy means that we have deployed extra backups and alternative network paths to ensure that data and services remain practically always available. For example, our Cloud and hosting platforms are set up in such a way that in the event of a failure in Meppel, a number of services remain accessible from the data center location in Amsterdam. The customers for whom this is important, and with whom this has been agreed, notice very little of a failure in such a case and can simply continue working or their web solution remains accessible.
 

The result, happily ever after

In addition to redundancy, the location in Meppel is also simply practical for us. Many ICT colleagues work from Zwolle or Emmen and from these offices we can get to Meppel faster than to Amsterdam. Much ICT management can be done remotely, but in the event of failures and physical changes it is more convenient to act when we have to travel less far. We still have an office location in Amsterdam, Science Park 400, so we are still close to our western customers.
