Web application for lost and found items

Ben Kwijt is well-known in the Drenthe region. If you have found or lost something in the municipalities of Emmen, Coevorden, Borger-Odoorn, or on the bus or train (Arriva), you go to benkwijt.nl. Whether your bike is missing or you want a bike to be removed because it has been lying in the ditch with a flat tire for weeks, you go to benkwijt.nl.

Web application for lost and found items

Report Lost or Found Items via the Website

Through the website, a lost or found item can be reported to Ben Kwijt. Details such as the location where the item was found or lost, its color, brand, estimated value can be provided, and an image can be added. The item automatically enters the web application (the management system for items) of Ben Kwijt.

Add Extra Information

In the application, additional information can be added to the item. For example, whether a report has been filed or if the item is insured. A status can be added (handled, monitor, destroy), a location where the item is stored if it is a found item (with the finder, in the bike shed, Location Emmen, Coevorden). An extra description or a special feature known only to the rightful owner can also be added.

Automatic Reminders

The web application provides alerts on the dashboard. This allows employees to know when a found item matches an item previously reported as lost. There is also an alert when the retention period has expired, indicating whether the item can be destroyed, kept, or, in the case of bikes, resold. Everyone can see newly reported items, released items, and pending actions, ensuring that every Ben Kwijt employee is informed, regardless of location.

Settings

When entering an item, there are choices such as color, brand, category, estimated value, and location. All of these options can be created by the application administrator. Ben Kwijt does not need to contact Infracom for this and can be very flexible.

Multiple Locations

Ben Kwijt is an initiative of Veiligheidszorg Drenthe. There are several locations where items can be reported as found or lost, such as the Service Point Emmen, Reporting Point Coevorden, location Borger Odoorn, and the Bike Shed in Emmen. Employees can access the application from these locations. The system tracks who is using it and who added each item.

Reports

Since the handling of found and lost items is the responsibility of the municipality, reports must be generated by Ben Kwijt. The application allows the creation of reports for specific items and time periods.

Custom web application

We have been working with Infracom for many years and are very positive about them. That is why we chose Infracom to develop a custom application for us. We wanted to get rid of our standard software, most of which we didn't use and which cost a lot per year. We also wanted flexibility. Now we have a lot of this flexibility and a web application that has been adapted to our needs, instead of us having to adapt to the application.
