Developing a Custom Application in Phases
For Doen Uitzendorganisatie BV, we have developed a custom application that is being developed in phases and is put into use step by step. This way, Doen! employees can immediately test how the application works, take advantage of its benefits, and communicate any new requirements.
Challenge
Doen! wanted an application developed that would align precisely with their way of working. There are various CRM software systems for employment agencies, but these packages are so extensive that many features would go unused.
Inventory
We started by mapping out all requirements. Very little was automated, and much work was done in Excel, making centralized work difficult. The first requirement was a system to store information about clients. We ultimately defined eight phases with desired functionalities, each taking one to two development weeks.
Development
In 2020, we began with a small part of the application that could be put into use by Doen! after just a few weeks. The next phase was scheduled a few months later. The application has since become an extension of the organization. Doen! continues to provide new requirements every quarter. Throughout the process, some functionalities were occasionally shifted between phases, as the benefits became clearer after the application was put into use.
Benefits of the phased approach
- Costs are manageable
- Control over the timeline
- Flexible, allowing timely adjustments
About the application
The application has now grown into a system where information about clients and candidates can be stored and where employees can work simultaneously.
Employees can generate candidate folders, which are personalized proposals for clients with a cover letter and an overview of suitable candidates for that client. All proposals maintain a consistent appearance, resulting in a significant quality improvement.
Other benefits include employees being able to see who did what, and registrations via the website automatically flowing into the application. This more efficient workflow has resulted in significant time savings.
