The Project: Beguestlisted 

The growth of non-professional accommodation providers has been the impetus for this project. These accommodation providers must comply with European laws and regulations, such as the mandatory night register and GDPR. For these organizations, compliance is very challenging because they lack (affordable) access to digital solutions. Existing solutions are designed for large, professionally organized entities, such as hotel chains.

With our intended innovation, guests can digitally verify their identity for the mandatory night register via an app in a simple way. The accommodation provider can easily manage bookings and build a digital guest list. GDPR rules and the legal requirement of the night register are embedded according to the privacy by design principle, meaning that privacy measures for personal data are continuously considered during development.

The intended end product is a booking tool that can be customized for each organization. Reservations from different locations can be easily tracked in one system (application). All guests (bookers and visitors) are fully automatically asked to verify their identity as required by law and the APV. The APV contains various rules regarding public order and safety, such as maintaining a night register. Guests can create an account based on their identity document (passport, ID card, driver’s license) and use it to check in and make reservations for their stay.

Guests can digitally check in and verify their identity immediately after booking, as prescribed by law and regulations. This online guest identification is a unique addition to the existing offerings of booking tools.
